Lux Imperius was announced in the guild subforum on 16 September 2016 by valvoid, posting under the name xMC_Master11x^[1], as an alliance "founded by @xMC_Master11x, @motoki1, @BlackbirdMC, @Loxotus, and @Arkam initially for war and community purposes. Lux Imperius is now a community alliance that values honor, prestige, and respect."^[2] It sits among the cluster of non-war alliances that formed in the early guild era alongside Halcyon, Seraphim and Aurelion, while HackForums and its partners held most of the territory map.

History

The member guilds, with their leaders and founding dates, were: Dragon's Arise [DsA], "founded in July of 2016 by @xMC_Master11x"; UltimateXeons [UXs] under motoki1, "a Community Guild (Also Semi-War)"; Eternal Legacy [ETL], led by Commer after nicedoge509 and dated to 27 February 2015; WarLords [War] under Arkam; GrimNation [GrN] under MagicGum; and Beasts [BST] under Beastovrlrd.^[2] Beasts was announced as a new member on 12 October 2016.^[3]

Membership was closed and deliberately kept small. "As lux imperius prefers to invite guilds without them asking we will look in about Forum Ninjas", Loxotus told one applicant^[4]; valvoid told another that "generally we don't let many guilds in as it is much harder to do events, it is less prestigious, etc."^[5] Both requests were refused on 15 October, because "the alliance would become too large".^[6] Asked why an alliance that admitted nobody kept a public thread at all, Yuno F Gasai answered for it: "So they could posts announcements and so that everybody will know they exist."^[7]

The thread nonetheless drew a response from the bloc that held the map. TheHipster posted a mock-declaration signed "BLACKLISTED" — "I see, so you plan to build an army of weaker powers to gain a foot against us... when you hear the drums of war, the only light to pass under the shadows of our steeds will be the fires of our guns"^[8] — which Yuno F Gasai read as confirmation of who felt threatened: "That short paragraph you wrote is what members of a powerhouse write when an alliance is made against them. The only current powerhouse is hax."^[9] A month later TheHipster disclaimed it as a joke^[10], and the argument that followed set out Blacklisted's place in that bloc.^[11][12]

Membership

As of 25 October 2016 the roster named six guilds: Dragon's Arise [DsA], UltimateXeons [UXs], Eternal Legacy [ETL], WarLords [War], GrimNation [GrN] and Beasts [BST].^[2] Earlier that month it also included a seventh, Aquafinity [Aqu], "created by @Loxotus and @Wynncraftian on 9/2/16"; Loxotus described it as "allied since creation".^[13][14] No departure was announced, and UltimateXeons' own recruitment thread still listed Aquafinity a year later, so whether the omission was a removal or an editing slip is unrecorded.^[15] The alliance predates machine-recorded alliance data, which begins in January 2018.^[16]

Membership of one alliance did not preclude membership of another in this period. Dragon's Arise appears earlier in the year among the guilds of the Astrafteri Affinity, a bloc formed around January 2016 that HackForums also joined.^[17][18] Lux Imperius itself appears to have taken no part in the territory war.

The Ordo Malleus misattribution

UltimateXeons' recruitment thread carries an "Old alliances" section headed "(Lux Imperius)" and listing six tags — DsA, ETL, War, Aqu, GrN, BST.^[15] The list has been misread as the membership of Ordo Malleus, because motoki1 announced joining Ordo Malleus in the same thread in February 2016.^[19] The two rosters are unrelated: Ordo Malleus' only recorded roster is the twelve-guild list in the same thread's opening post, headed by the rule "Don't attack the territories that ally guilds own".^[20] The six tags belong to Lux Imperius, not Ordo Malleus.

Legacy

No dissolution was ever recorded; the alliance's last recorded business, on 19 October 2016, is an Aquafinity event planned for December 2016, to which "All leaders of a guild in Lux Inperius is invited and is allowed to bring 1 friend."^[21][22] By 30 November 2017 UltimateXeons had moved it to an "Old alliances" list and its own live alliance section read "None at the moment!"^[23] Two members reappear later: Dragons Arise in Aurelion^[24], and Beasts under Beastovrlrd in the Emperium of Wynn of 2017.^[25]
