On 18 December 2020 Sheepn, then of Diablo [DXI], opened thread 279337, "Guild Moderators" — the best-documented political flashpoint between the ignition of the war against Artemis and the naming of Goose a month later. Its opening sentence supplies the era's clearest framing of the conflict: "there is currently an ongoing large-scale conflict between Artemis, the map-holder alliance, and a currently unnamed group of anti-Artemis guilds."[1]
The complaint was that "a moderator affiliated with a major Artemis guild" had banned two prominent members of the leading anti-Artemis guild for macro use, when the numpad spamming they described was "publicly known to be NOT bannable and allowed by moderation"[1]. The thread's thesis was structural rather than personal: "The root of the problem boils down to the moderation team failing to adapt to the modern way guilds operate even though many Moderators come from guilds, and a lack of set-in-stone rules for guilds related issues."[1] Sheepn closed with a request not to "name drop or harass the moderator involved"[1].
The replies made the thread a record in itself. IceResistance of Titans Valor answered that "Moderators will not ban players without reason"[2]; Carrie of Paladins United located the real fault in the team's "lack of communication, being on the same page"[3]; Miles_ questioned a rule enforceable only when players incriminate themselves[4]. Read together with the guild tags of its participants, the thread also preserves the membership of the then-unnamed coalition — Diablo, Eden, Avicia, HICH, Bovemists, Lily Pad, Ultra Violet, Emorians, The Dark Phoenix, Paladins United and Imperial — and places Kingdom Foxes and Titans Valor in Artemis[5].
