Goose was the war coalition that rose against Artemis's map dominance in the winter of 2020-21: an unnamed group of anti-Artemis guilds in December 2020, it carried the name Goose by 19 January 2021. It took map control and collapsed together with Artemis on 11 May 2021, splitting into Valhalla and Khaos.
History
An unnamed coalition
By 18 December 2020 an unnamed group of anti-Artemis guilds had formed - among them Avicia, Emorians, Eden, Ultra Violet, Bovemists, Diablo and The Dark Phoenix - together with Paladins United and Imperial, the two surviving founders of Artemis itself.[1] The coalition's coordinated war on the Artemis core began that same December, when territory exchanges jumped to 913 for the month after months of skirmishing.[2] The Goose-Artemis war would run for the rest of the coalition's life.
Named by January 2021
The name Goose first appeared on the morning of 19 January 2021, in two megalist posts made within half an hour of each other: 99loulou999 of The Dark Phoenix noting that 'TNR (TNI and TNA) are part of Goose', and Lev98bug of Eden asking 'Eden is in Goose if you could add that'.[3] The megalist's maintainer added both and replied, 'Just want to drop in and say that I'm a huge fan of the name.'[4] Who coined it, and when the coalition formally adopted it, was never written down.
Growth continued through the spring.[5] On 1 February 2021 urbymine, a former Chief of Avicia, noted that 'BNU(IBT), SHY and TNL are all goose now' - ShadowFall's defection from an Artemis leadership seat, alongside IceBlue Team and TheNoLifes.[6] By late March the future Khaos core (Aequitas, Wheres The Finish, ChinaNumberOne, Eden, joined in April by Fuzzy Spiders) was aboard.[7][8]
The fanart roster
Goose was the only alliance whose membership was ever drawn. On 30 March and 6 April 2021 Drasalia, a member of ChinaNumberOne, posted two illustration threads personifying twelve member guilds: The Mage Legacy, Aequitas, ChinaNumberOne, Wheres The Finish, TheNoLifes and IceBlue Team in the first,[7] Eden, Guardian of Wynn, Fuzzy Spiders, ShadowFall, The Dark Phoenix and Avicia in the second.[8] The threads were explicitly partial and unofficial - 'this is just my doodles of what I think the Guilds would look like if they were people', with the second noting 'the GOOSE alliance still has more I need to finish'.[8] Members of the drawn guilds replied approvingly, among them Lalatera and FrozenGalaxy of Aequitas, ZrBence of IceBlue Team, DeathLucifer of TheNoLifes and Eden's Lev98bug.[9]

On 25 January 2021 Goose and Artemis jointly granted Profession Heaven neutral status as a public profession-XP guild.[10] Goose took map control from Artemis and held it until 11 May 2021, when both alliances collapsed on the same day - The Great Collapse - splitting into Valhalla and Khaos.[11]
What remains unknown
Goose's formation date, internal leadership and full roster were never recorded. Every recorded membership join is a 'by' date.[10] Two guilds named in the December 2020 coalition list - 'Lily Pad' and 'HICH' - cannot be identified with any known guild.[1]

Goose's split seeded the next era: Valhalla drew on its broad membership while Khaos formed from its core, and the war between them began the day both were founded. The joint protection of Profession Heaven that Goose co-established persisted under successor alliances until 2026.[10]
