Background

Artemis had been formed on 30 October 2019, in what became its own era, by Imperial, Paladins United and Caeruleum Order^[1], and transformed across 2020: by March 2020 Kingdom Foxes was a member and ShadowFall held a leadership seat^[2], and by December 2020 it was described as 'the war alliance made up of all the current massive land holding guilds', including Titans Valor^[3]. By then its own founders Paladins United and Imperial had drifted out — both were on the opposing side by December 2020^[4].

Course of the war

The war was fought at bloc level, between two multi-guild alliances rather than a pair of guilds. Skirmishing appears to have begun as early as March 2020^[5], and the war erupted in December 2020 — 913 territory exchanges that month^[6]. In mid-December the opposing coalition was still unnamed^[4]; the earliest recorded use of the name Goose is from 19 January 2021^[7]. In February 2021 Artemis guilds were 'warring the Rays-held desert'^[8].

Goose grew through the spring^[9]. By 1 February 2021 ShadowFall, IceBlue Team and TheNoLifes were 'all goose now'^[10] — a side-switch from the Artemis world — and by March–April 2021 the coalition had absorbed the future Khaos core: Aequitas, Wheres The Finish, ChinaNumberOne, Fuzzy Spiders and Eden^[11][12]. Goose took control of the map^[13].

Amid the fighting, on 25 January 2021, both alliances jointly granted Profession Heaven neutral status as a public profession-XP guild — a protection that held for five years^[14].

Aftermath

The war ended on 11 May 2021 when Goose and Artemis both collapsed on the same day — The Great Collapse — reforming as Valhalla and Khaos^[15], whose war began immediately.
