Guild seasons were introduced in patch 1.20.3^[1], released on 5 July 2021^[2], building on the territory warfare rework of version 1.20 'Gavel Reborn' (20 January 2021)^[3].

Under the system, guilds earn Season Rating (SR) by holding and attacking territories. Territories generate SR every five seconds on a sliding scale that penalises large claims - the fifth territory a guild holds yields only 80 per cent of its nominal rate, and the twenty-second and beyond only 20 per cent - while each successful capture awards a flat amount. At each season's end every territory is reset to the placeholder guild Nobody [None] with its defences, upgrades and treasury stripped, and rewards are distributed by SR leaderboard ranking and by SR thresholds: guild capes, seasonal banners, badges, tomes, emeralds, XP boosts, bank slots, and a crown cosmetic for the #1 guild^[4]. The design deliberately spread rewards beyond the top competitive guilds. The same patch reduced war team size from 6 to 5, adjusted tax caps and added territory loadouts^[2]. Seasons were announced as running 'every 3 months or so'^[2]; the 1.20.4 changelog retargeted them to 1.5-2 months, which is why later seasons carry lower winning ratings^[5].

A three-day Season 0 ran from 5 to 7 July 2021 as a test, with no banner reward; the numbered competition began with Season 1 on 9 July 2021^[6].

Season winners

Winners after Season 25 were not recorded^[7]. Titan Times vol. 21 (18 May 2026) gives the later calendar without naming winners: Season 28 ran from November to December 2025, Season 29 from January to March 2026, and Season 30 was in progress when that volume went out^[8].

Two guilds dominate the table. Avicia took five consecutive crowns across Seasons 9-13 (October 2022 - August 2023), and Sequoia took seven consecutive crowns across Seasons 19-25 (June 2024 - July 2025), the longest streak^[9]. Eden, despite the claim that it was once '#1'^[10], never won a season.

The in-game guild leaderboard for Season 21, which ended 23 December 2024, during Sequoia's run of seven: Sequoia first on 10,801,762 Season Rating, ahead of Idiot Co, Avicia, KongoBoys, Titans Valor, Aequitas, The Rat Colony, TruthSworD, The Broken Gasmask and Profession Heaven. Seasons as the community's calendar

Seasons quickly became the community's calendar, and they were fought as alliances — 'our first season being a part of the new Cucumber Company war alliance', Titan Times vol. 1 noted^[12]. Cucumber Company was formed for Season 5, which ran from 3 March to 2 May 2022^[13]. The alliance's rename to Smtn else (later smtn elf) came 'at the start of Season 8'^[14], which began on 12 September 2022^[15]. Avicia's Season 12 crown post of 10 June 2023 - the season that ended on 11 June - is the last recorded mention of smtn elf^[16]. Season-end posts by winning guilds are among the era's principal primary sources.
