A survey of twelve years of Wynncraft guild warfare, 2014–2026: from the first guilds and the HackForums dominance through the mega-alliances, the Great Collapse and the super-alliances, to the private-diplomacy wars whose alliances were never published.

The territory map in the Federation eraJun 1, 2018

Guild warfare — the contest for the territory map of the Wynn provinces — is nearly as old as Wynncraft's guilds themselves, introduced in the Guild Update of December 2014[1]. Twelve years of it divide into six eras. The earliest years were documented only on the forums; a continuous territory-exchange log begins in January 2018[2], and from 2026 the game itself records guild ally registrations[3] (see Territory warfare for the mechanics and the methodology).

The early powers (2014–2017)

The early guild era produced the first alliances — above all Valkyrie, founded in June 2015 by Kingdom of Foxes and Imperial[4] and destined to outlive everything around it — and the first hegemon: HackForums, which in September 2016 held 146 of roughly 332 territories, ahead of the otherwise-unrecorded Libertas[5]. Hax's mega-alliance peaked near 350 territories in 2017 before falling; the Coalition rose in its place, taking the whole map by Christmas 2017[4].

The age of the mega-alliances (2018–2019)

In February 2018 the Coalition split, and the Coalition Civil War between it and Alliance Alliance birthed the Federation under Drew1011[6]. The Federation wiped HackForums' 111 territories in under 12 hours[4], grew to some 40 guilds (with the Aesir Pact inside it[7]), and held the entire map for 8 months and 25 days[6] — then cascaded apart in a single day on 10 November 2018[8] (the Federation era). What followed was churn: in thirteen months SOL, Luna, Terra, the Council of Canyon Kingdoms and Horologium each rose and collapsed, punctuated by the treaties of Rodoroc and Ternaves and Luna's brief total map control[4] (the alliance wars of 2019).

Artemis, Goose and the Great Collapse (2020–2021)

Artemis emerged from 2019 as map holder and transformed across 2020 — its founders Paladins United and Imperial ending up in the opposing coalition[9] that became Goose[10]. The Goose–Artemis war consumed the map until 11 May 2021, when both alliances died on the same day[11]the Great Collapse — while community alliances (Hestia, Niflheim, the Empire of Nemract) ran alongside the fighting and Profession Heaven was jointly protected as a neutral guild[4] (the Artemis–Goose era).

Realignment and the super-alliances (2021–2023)

From the Collapse rose Valhalla and Khaos, at war from their first day (Valhalla–Khaos war)[11]; Vanir inherited Valhalla's side and lived twenty days[4]. The 2022 realignment merged both worlds into Cucumber Company — whose 14-guild roster, posted to the forum megalist in June 2022, was the last public alliance roster ever[12] — renamed smtn elf by Christmas[13][14]. In June 2023 The Aquarium and Avicia walked out (the Avocado split)[4] and the super-alliance's end was never announced[15] (the realignment era).

The private diplomacy era (2023–2026)

Since then, diplomacy has lived in private Discords[16], and the era's wars showed only on the territory map[17]: the Avicia–Sequoia war, the Idiot Co–Aquarium war (the biggest since 2021), the Long Raid, the record-setting Aequitas–Avicia war of 2025, the 2026 fall of Profession Heaven's neutrality, and the ongoing Aequitas–Sequoia war against seven-season champion Sequoia[18]. In June 2026 a machine record appeared, though not of diplomacy: Sequoia's client mod began capturing the game's in-game ally registrations[19], a status used chiefly to let allied guilds run guild raids together rather than a record of political alignment[20] (The Diplomacy update). Who was allied with whom, and why, remains unpublished (the private diplomacy era).
