Paladins United [PUN], created on 2 Jun 2017 by EHTYSCYTHE,^[1][2] belonged to more alliances than nearly any other guild. Its forum thread was opened in April 2019 by Carrie, one of the guild's leading figures through the 2019–2020 alliance wars; Vholtz_ owned the guild at that date, and by 2022 ownership had passed to Auxiliary_ — when is not recorded.^[2]

History

The Coalition and the Federation (2017-2018)

By late 2017 Paladins United was in the Coalition. On 17 Feb 2018 it left with four other guilds to co-found Alliance Alliance, starting the Coalition Civil War; when the war ended on 20 Mar 2018 the AA guilds were absorbed into the Federation, where PUN served two stints (to June, and from August until the collapse of 10 Nov 2018).^[3][4]

2019: Terra to Artemis

In the alliance wars of 2019 Paladins United appears to have fought with Terra against Luna, staying until 30 Oct 2019 — the day it co-founded Artemis with Imperial and Caeruleum Order.^[4] It was in Valkyrie by 14 Sep 2019,^[5] and in the community alliance Hestia from around mid-2020;^[6] its thread listed both until 19 Sep 2022.^[2]

The Valkyrie join-date problem

Whether 14 September 2019 marks a join or only a first mention is unclear. Arkada, writing that day, opens: "The Valkyrie alliance, consisting of Kingdom Foxes, Imperial, Paladins United, and Emorians, have existed for longer than I've played Wynncraft."^[5] He wrote as a hostile observer describing an established, long-standing bloc of four guilds — yet Paladins United and Imperial are recorded entering Valkyrie only in September 2019, after Emorians had left it in the revolt of late August 2019, so that on those dates the four guilds were never simultaneously members.^[3] The dates probably mark first mentions rather than joins: Valkyrie's threads had gone quiet after 2017 and no membership list was published between then and the 2020s.^[7] Carrie, writing in March 2020 as "the leader of PUN", placed the guild "in Valk, in a large alliance".^[8]

Side-switch and the blocs (2020-2023)

By December 2020 PUN had drifted from Artemis to the opposing coalition — it appears in the 18 Dec 2020 anti-Artemis list that became Goose^[9] — and stayed until the Great Collapse of 11 May 2021, then joined Valhalla at its founding and followed it into Vanir.^[3] At the start of Season 8 (autumn 2022) it joined the renamed 'Smtn else' — later smtn elf — alongside The Simple Ones and TerraLune, remaining until the alliance's quiet end in mid-2023.^[10]
