Imperial [Imp] is one of the oldest guilds in the warring record, created on 14 Jan 2015.^[1]

History

Valkyrie and the Federation (2015-2018)

On 2 Jun 2015 Imperial co-founded Valkyrie with Kingdom of Foxes (today Kingdom Foxes).^[2] It did not stay: Imperial was still among the member-guilds of the alliance's second relaunch thread of August 2016,^[3] but by the third relaunch thread of 15 October 2016 it had gone — "tmw the alliance originally made by Imp and Fox has neither Imp nor Fox in it", one poster wrote,^[4] to which Ascended Kitten of Imperial replied, "Hey, we are pretty alive :3 Just not in the alliance anymore".^[5] Imperial's membership is next recorded in September 2019.^[6] The gap matters, because later accounts describe Valkyrie as a continuous four-guild bloc including Imperial.^[7]

Imperial was a member of the Federation from its founding in February 2018 through the Federation era;^[8] during the November 2018 collapse its exit 'for independence... snowballed into a major attack on Fed together with the enemy alliance [Ent]', Ascended Kitten of Imperial wrote the following morning - part of the cascade that killed the alliance on 10 Nov 2018.^[9]

Luna and the wars of 2019

Imperial founded Luna on 14 Feb 2019 to counter SOL,^[10] and led its war on Kingdom Foxes, attacking Fox 660 times over five months.^[11] In March 2019 Imperial was the map's largest holder, at 85 territories.^[12] On 29 Aug 2019 Emorians and Avicia left Luna and declared war on Imperial specifically;^[6] Luna collapsed that September in the Luna–Terra war, in which, Arkada wrote, Terra's guilds "focused on toppling one guild in particular, Imperial".^[7]

The Valkyrie join-date problem

Whether September 2019 marks a return to Valkyrie or only a first mention is unclear. Writing on 14 Sep 2019, Arkada of Titans Valor opened his account of the war with: "The Valkyrie alliance, consisting of Kingdom Foxes, Imperial, Paladins United, and Emorians, have existed for longer than I've played Wynncraft."^[7] He was a hostile observer describing an established bloc — yet Imperial and Paladins United are recorded entering Valkyrie only that September, weeks after Emorians had left it in the revolt of late August, so that on those dates his four guilds were never simultaneously members.^[6] The September dates are probably first mentions rather than joins; when Imperial actually rejoined is not known.

Artemis, Goose, and the quiet years (2019-2022)

Imperial co-founded Artemis on 30 Oct 2019 with Paladins United and Caeruleum Order.^[10] In March 2020 GoulartJJ, an Imperial player who by then led the guild ShadowFall, introduced himself on the forums as "the Shadow Fall leader and one of Artemis leaders" — see GoulartJJ.^[13] By December 2020 Imperial had drifted to the opposing coalition, appearing in the 18 Dec 2020 list of anti-Artemis guilds that became Goose^[14], and remained there until the Great Collapse of 11 May 2021.^[11] No war-bloc membership was recorded after 2021; Valkyrie, with Imperial a member, was last mentioned on 19 Sep 2022.^[6]
