Holders of LE [HoL] was created on 21 December 2014, days after guilds were introduced, and passed through at least six owners before going quiet in April 2018. A Kangronomicon subguild and then full ally in 2015, it was a founding member of Ordo Malleus, a Valkyrie member in 2016, and was revived for the Coalition in 2018.

PillowPet created the guild on 21 December 2014[1][2][3], the day before guild warfare itself arrived in the Guild Update of 22 December — making it one of the very few guilds of that first cohort still being revived three years later. Drew1011 owned the guild from December 2015 to January 2018.

The record

Almost everything known about the guild's internal history between 2015 and 2016 comes from one source: Drew1011's serialised first-person account, composed between 2018 and 2021, which he described as a mixture of fact and his own opinion. He is also the sole source for events in which he was an interested party, including the September 2015 transfer that made him leader.

History

2015: the leadership crisis

By mid-2015 the guild was owned by SSEEBBYZ, who was largely inactive and had given day-to-day leadership to yosteric5[4]. Drew1011, who joined in late May 2015 after being invited by the chief Kuroi, wrote that the guild's "reputation had never been lower" and that it had "gone through multiple scandals, including a duping ordeal that got many members banned"[5].

About a week after joining, Drew1011 met three or four other members at the Troms throne room in what Drew1011 called the "Secret HoL Illuminati Society", a discussion of how to remove yosteric5 from the leadership[6]. The request went to Kangronomicon in a forum post by Kuroi: "we wanted to ask you something about... yosteric5 … he's the stand-in leader of HoL, our guild … We're asking you to convince our guild leader, @SSEEBBYZ, to kick him out of the guild or demote him. Being leader of Fuq, we're pretty sure you can get SSEEBBYZ to do that"[7]. Spham agreed to intervene only if SSEEBBYZ logged in to the game, which he did not; Kuroi and Drew1011 instead put their grievances to yosteric5 directly and were both made "Head Chiefs"[8].

Kangronomicon, Validus and the fifty territories

Through the summer of 2015 the guild ran repeated skirmishes against Nether's Ascent, taking and briefly holding six or seven territories at a time, which Drew1011 described as an audition for Kangronomicon's notice[9]. In parallel it had been in contact with the guild Validus since 5 July 2015, and it joined Validus's alliance Concordia[10]. On 14 August 2015 it became a Kangronomicon subguild instead, and the break with Validus followed the next day[11].

A glitch that prevented Kangronomicon from starting wars left its subguilds to recapture anything it lost. Between 15 and 24 August 2015 Holders of LE captured and held 50 territories before the same glitch reached it[12]. In his mid-2017 application to lead the Emperium of Wynn, Drew1011 put his own co-leadership at July to September 2015 and wrote that "the guild managed to capture and hold over 50 territories until the guild succumbed to the glitch that prevented a guild from starting a guild war"; only Wynn territories existed at the time[10]. He also claimed the guild reached fifth on the leaderboard at its height, when the board ranked guilds by level rather than territory[10].

Drew1011 wrote that he was demoted to recruit and then kicked on 24 August 2015 after telling yosteric5 about the Troms meeting himself[13], and that yosteric5 then realigned the guild from Kangronomicon to Validus; he attributed this to a personal feud between yosteric5 and Spham[14]. He rejoined on an alternate account as co-leader on 13 September 2015[15].

The coup of 22 September 2015

SSEEBBYZ told Drew1011 he wanted to sell the guild for "5 stacks"; Spham declined to lend the money but arranged for her partner unicorn67 to buy it[16]. On 22 September 2015, at an announced guild meeting, SSEEBBYZ transferred the guild to an account he introduced as his cousin, AALLEEXX — which Drew1011 identifies as Spham's alternate account — after which yosteric5 was demoted to recruit and Drew1011 named leader in Spham's absence[17]. yosteric5 left, followed by the "yosteric loyalists", "most of them" going to Validus "and then later to Libertas when Yos created it"[18].

Under Dar_Krusos, who took over Kangronomicon within hours of the coup, Holders of LE was promoted from subguild to full ally and assigned nine territories around Nemract[19]. In October 2015 it fought alongside Kangronomicon through a coordinated Concordia assault; Drew1011 wrote that he defended alone for roughly four hours because the rest of the guild was unavailable[20].

Ordo Malleus and the alliance years

Late in 2015 Dar_Krusos required the guild to elect four officers — Diplomat, War Commander, Community Manager and Merchant — in preparation for a new alliance[21]. Of the resulting elections Drew1011 later wrote that he "changed the results" of the Diplomat contest to install the chief coralialia[22].

Holders of LE was one of the seven founding guilds of Ordo Malleus on 6 November 2015 and was assigned Nesaak and Mining Base under the alliance's territory system[23]. It appears in the alliance's February 2016 roster[24]. Drew1011 withdrew the guild on 9 March 2016, the day the alliance collapsed[25]. A member applying to rejoin in 2018 recalled: "I have joined HoL before Gavel was released, when HoL was in alliance with Toasted Pandas, HaHaUnited, Fuq etc … This was back when we were at war with Vesta"[26].

The guild then joined Valkyrie at a ceremony in Llevigar on 18 March 2016 alongside Kingdom of Foxes, HaHaUnited and Imperial[27], and left it on 5 June 2016 to found Halcyon with ToastedPandas. Its leaving message records both the departure and the guild's artwork: "I don't really want to go down in history as the first (and probably only) guild to ever leave Valkyrie, but I am … I will remove the HoL art that Ari so graciously created for us"[28] — "Ari" being LoveLusting. It rejoined Valkyrie on 3 September 2016[29].

Revival and end

Drew1011 handed the guild to Thundderr on 31 January 2018, posting on its new thread the same day: "Make me proud."[30] Revived inside the Coalition, it was allotted 19 territories in the alliance's February 2018 division of the map[31], and its May 2018 thread lists Thundderr as leader with Kur0i and Pillowpet — the guild's creator — still among its chiefs[2]. Thundderr told Drew1011 on 1 April 2018 that he was giving the guild up, and it went inactive again from that point[32].
