History

Rise (2022-2024)

Within its first year Sequoia drew the attention of an established power: Avicia skirmished with it through spring 2023, and the main eruption came on 30 Oct - 20 Nov 2023, peaking at 1,454 territory exchanges per week, with a second round in January 2024.[2] The war did not slow the guild — from mid-2024 Sequoia won seven consecutive guild seasons.[3]

The machine record (2026)

In June 2026 Sequoia's open-source mod began capturing the game's in-game ally registrations from chat, the first such records made by software rather than written down by a person.[5] From 30 Jul 2026 the mod began auto-snapshotting the in-game Diplomacy menu to Sequoia's private backend, a growing machine-readable record of those registrations.[6][7]

The Aequitas war (2026)

After a one-week clash in August 2025 and spring 2026 skirmishes, full war with Aequitas erupted in the week of 24 Aug 2026 — 7,488 territory exchanges in its first week, with Aequitas driven to zero territories.[2][8] The war is ongoing.

Alliances

Sequoia belonged to none of the twenty-two known alliances of 2015-2024; by its era, alliance rosters had moved to private Discords, and no political alliance of Sequoia's was ever recorded.[8] Its own mod captured in-game ally registrations — a game-mechanical relationship used chiefly to let allied guilds run guild raids together, not evidence of political alignment:[5]
